New Office in Japan

A new SkyTechSport location just opened up in Yokohama, the second largest city of Japan just 30 km off Tokyo. Started by an Austrian skier Max Daublebsky von Sterneck, it'll serve as our new showroom and representative office, that will also train amateurs and professional Japanese racing teams. The place is called "Ski & Fit", see contacts below.

Max was looking for off season training when he stumbled upon the SkyTechSport's machine for the first time. It was at the ISPO show in Munich in 2013 when he had the chance to see the machine for the first time... and got hooked, immediately. Returning to Japan, Max contacted many people trying to position a machine in Japan.

The first person who ventured to invest in a machine was Professor Suzuki of the Kitami University of Technology, who used a President ski a snowboard simulator with virtual reality system it to start a scientific project. Prof. Soichiro Suzuki's laboratory explores human motion dynamics, and he wanted to develop new high-tech ski boots for a Japanese brand. A robot that he created himself skied on the machine testing new materials and designs. A couple of months later, another ski a snowboard simulator was installed in Hokkaido.

Max believes it is impossible not to be amazed by the SkyTechSport’s virtual skiing technology.

'It is so incredibly close to real skiing, that as a skier, you can train/ski 365 days a year. I love skiing, and unfortunately, like many others, I cannot ski as often as I wanted to.

As a trainer, or instructor, you are right in front of your student, and can identify and correct errors in skiing immediately and thus improve the efficiency of the training. Not to mention huge potential opportunities for the machine in the general fitness market'.

Max lives in Japan and I skis in Japan, so he can see the potential for the Japanese market. Our success in Japan follows the recent burst of interest in other South-East Asian nations, such as China and South Korea, where SkyTechSport opened several facilities in the past two years.

With the simulator, Max hopes to give the country the same chance to ski any time, without the hassles of travelling to the ski areas (specifically from Tokyo, Osaka area). The nearest plans include launching other Ski & Fit studios in major cities of Japan and introducing the ski simulator to racing teams as the standard tool for training.
